Legal Documents

Bylaws

Cooperatives are governed by their bylaws, which outline their purpose, member voting rights, officer roles, meeting information, share pricing formula, share selling procedures, and other important details.

Legal documents are written in legalese that can be difficult to understand. We are currently working on a simplified version of our bylaws.

Occupancy Agreement

A cooperative’s occupancy agreement (also known as a “proprietary lease”) is like a lease. It is one of the documents members sign when they get membership into the cooperative. It is an agreement between members and La Villita Housing Cooperative on things like how much the member will pay, who’s responsible for fixing what, and rules on things like subletting and Airbnb.

We are in the process of updating our documents so check back soon to learn more!
